Director of Rockford Area Career Clearinghouse

Reporting to Rockford Area Career Clearinghouse Management Board, this position is located at Rockford College and responsible for the overall execution of linking regional employers and college students for purposes of full time employment, internships and apprenticeships. The role includes working with all accredited post-secondary degree candidates, area employers, college career services departments and staffing firms.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead effort to recruit college graduates needed to satisfy hiring needs of regional employers.
- Determine area employers’ current and forecasted talent needs.
- Develop internships and apprenticeships with regional employers.
- Advocate quality of life and work advantages to college graduates.
- Promote Career Clearinghouse to centers of influence within the region, including business and community leaders and organizations.
- Establish policies and practices for linking employers and candidates, interns and apprentices.
- Mentor regional employers on best practices in recruiting and retaining Gen X and Gen Y professionals.
- Assist regional staffing partners in recruiting young professionals.
- Ensure maximum possible participation from institutions of higher education.
- Track performance for reporting to strategic partners.
- Supervise interns working on Clearinghouse activities.
- Ensure sound financial management of allocated funds.
Education/Experience/Job Training
Position requires BA/BS with Master’s degree preferred. Must have: Knowledge of Rockford region and strong professional network; Demonstrated ability to effectively
promote/market/sell a concept or product and history of self-motivation and direction; Minimum of two years’ knowledge of talent recruitment and selection; Excellent time management, organizational and computer skills; Good interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; and valid driver’s license and unlimited access to vehicle.
